Fear is the most primal of all emotions. It's a force that, for the most part, is crippling - weakening. It can cause organisms to tremble, freeze, and despair. It's only real benefit is in flight, running away; organisms can run faster and longer when flight mode is activated. But when it comes to fighting, fear is antithetical; it causes your arms to feel heavy and weak, breathing becomes erratic, confidence is nowhere to be found, etc. Fear and flight go hand in hand, so what goes hand in hand with fight? What is the polar aspect of Fear? RAGE

Pure rage is activated, usually, upon seeing a loved one gravely harmed or murdered. It is the emotion which goes hand in hand with fight mode; the organism is overwhelmed with the sensation of power, hatred, and ferocious strength. Pain and fear are not even felt at all in this state of being. The strength that is given to the organism from the nervous system is so intense that it immediately needs to discharge its force on another, namely the perceived enemy. Pure rage is peculiarly euphoric because of the immense feeling of power, but is extremely taxing on the nervous system once the energies are discharged.

Fear and Rage are very primal emotions, but fear is, usually, experienced more often than rage; it's rare for people to experience pure, unadulterated rage. But when they do, it's not uncommon for seemingly superhuman feats of strength to be performed.

Not apart of my style, other than through mnemic, in persuit intimidation. Just never the feeling, too much self-control, too methodical, only way to stay on top and never slip off. Learn to fight in the realm of words, where appearance is all that matters, rage a display of weakness.

I wouldn't consider rage to be a weakness in most contexts, but yeah, in some cases I suppose it can be a sign of weakness, e.g., in a Poker game, some guy decides to talk shit to you in order to get you off your game -it would seem like weakness if you got angry with the guy as opposed to remaining calm with a poker face. But this sort of sensation doesn't, really, strike me as rage; more like irritation or anger. Rage is a whole different ball game, the type of rage you would feel upon seeing a loved one murdered before your eyes. It's not something you can really control regardless of how methodical you are; it's too intense and extreme.

Do you subscribe to stoicism?

You seem to have a rage theme to you, you're not planning on doing anything in the future are you? Wink

Mannequin, pay close attention to the 7' O clock news.

Vrilseeker, Yes - Rage and Fear are correlated to the Fight and Flight mechanism. That is correct.
