The first song is celestial, ethereal. The second song is more primal; the low bass of the drums creates imagery of an ominious build up to a primeval battle.

Mitropanos performing Rosa.
The song talks about modern alienation, through the context of a lost love.

Melina Aslanidou, performs Ti sou'kana kai pineiw (what did I do to make you drink?)
A love song.
I also consider her hot.

One of my favorite young Greek singers. Love his voice.
Basis, Dimitris...Karavi to Fegari (the moon a ship)
Love song.

Here he performs a very old traditional song...
The play of his voice is amazing.

One of the best post-war songs written in Greece.

Description wrote:

"Erotiko", a famous Greek song meaning "Erotic. The song has a second title, "Me mia piroga", which means "With a Pirogue".
Erotiko,  is one of the most distinctive Greek Songs, massively loved by the Greeks. It is also one of the most contradictory songs in Greek Music, as the lyrics written by the poet Alkis Alkeos are quite vague and leave much room for interpretations.

According to the majority, Erotiko is above all a Love song, referring to the loss of love. The poet acknowledges the loss as his love is far: "Which string of nights has taken away your light ..? and in which galaxy shall i spot you..?"  Stuck far away, the poet tries to deny, three times, his love, which is already torn in half by the distance and the void between them.

The end finds the poet again in reality, in "Attica, a dreary quarry“, away from his dream and his love, who is found somewhere at the land of the Visigoths, a place strange and inhospitable. The poet creates a dreamy setting in his song; an epicedium where a tormented country meets a tormented soul.

According to a second interpretation, the song refers to Greece, naming it as Antigone, the tragic heroine of Sophocles, condemned by her destiny to be sacrificed believing in her heart’s laws, rather than laws imposed by humans. There are symbolisms referring to the anguished and persecuted religion of the Greeks, "I brought you fresh water from Delphi " and the effort to restrict the free spirited Mediterranean people "how can the Mediterranean sea be tied with ropes“... The political nuance of the song refers mostly to a declining civilization. The shining marbles of Attica became gray... a land considered cheap and unimportant, "where foreign troops are cursing as they train“.

Regardless of the meaning and the interpretation, it would be wrong to divide them that much; Erotiko is a love song, dedicated to some lost love, far away from the country whose shine is fading out. This is the main advantage of poetry anyway: including images, allegoric meanings and sounds that depict reality in a few words.

Erotiko is the creation of Thanos Mikroutsikos and Alkis Alkeos, originally performed by Haris Alexiou in a live concert; the song was, though, recorded first with Manolis Mitsias and since then was sung by known and less known performers.

The ambiguity of the song lends it a mystique. One can understand why the poet had to mask his commentary on the buried Hellenic civilization, in Christian dirt, within the pretext of a love-song.
Mitropanos performs...Erotiko
One of the bst songs, combing music and lyrics. The Greeks are known to take poems and put them to music...in opposition to modern western songs which begin with the music...usually a jungle beat.

A love song performed by Kalatzis...music lyrics by one of my favorite Greek songwriters Kougioumtzis.
Eisoyn oraia otan gelouses (you were beautiful when you laughed)
A song about lost loves, lost years.
Nostalgic.

The Lord's Requiem

Immediately when i turn on this chant - i become serene, clear in mind, a cure for headache or a sleepless night, restful..
For years i listen to this chant without it becoming boring or ordinary; i listen to this at least 5 times a week, every week.

That Byzantium chant still affects me.
it's like a human lament...begging, pleading, for redemption.
Self-pity, when one is still not an OVERMAN.

Christianity with incorporated Pagan tradition, the 13th of december is the darkest day of the year, almost no light. Lucia is the only celebrated saint in the protestant country. The day represents the fight between the light and darkness, a blister of hope symbolized in the candles. Its meant to provide fortitude in face of the extremley dark winter.

The biggest celebration is on the 14th of June, its the brightest day of the whole year, and the sun pretty much stays up all night.

This nasheed gives me the feeling of being on the mountains,
even without the unconscious association with the photos or the text having an other meaning -
the atmosphere the voices create give this feeling inside of me.

Translation:

''Don't be so proud sinful body (there is no God but Allah)
because your parents are alive (there is no God but Allah),
you won't have your parents by your side (there is no God but Allah),
except Adam and Eve (there is no God but Allah).

Dont be so proud sinful body (there is no God but Allah),
because you are dressed well today (there is no God but Allah),
you won't have your clothes (there is no God but Allah),
except of your shroud (there is no God but Allah).
Don't be so proud heart inside the body (there is no God but Allah),
because you have food and water today (there is no God but Allah),
you won't have food and water (there is no God but Allah),
except the dark earth (there is no God but Allah).

Don't be so proud heart inside the body (there is no God but Allah),
because this world is so big (there is no God but Allah),
even if this world is big, your grave will be narrow (there is no God but Allah).
Don't be so proud sinful body (there is no God but Allah),
because there is someone who takes care of you (there is no God but Allah),
there isn't anybody, who takes care of you (there is no God but Allah),
except the God who created us (there is no God but Allah).

(A different translation of the last part)

Don't be so proud oh egoistic soul, La ilaha illa Allah
Only because you have a caring father, La ilaha illa Allah
You won't keep having a caring father, La ilaha illa Allah
But the One who created us (Allah), La ilaha illa Allah.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

An insight in the hearts of Arabs:

''Egyptians and generelly Arabs are our brothers in Islam but you are not fighters at all,
your people don't have the soul of a fighter
so when you can just help with money and dua that's enough for you ...
fighting for freedom and Islam is the duty and job of other people.

I know the Quran and the Sunnah you cannot sell this lie to me so stop lying please,
you Egyptians had an alliance with 4 other Arab countries against Israel and they lost,
i don´t say that because i don´t like Arabs ... but to say the truth is the behaviour of a muslim,
most of Egyptians and other Arab countries are cowards and weak ....
but that doesn´t mean that you are bad people .... not everyone can be a warrior,
Allah created us differently.

The meaning of that is in religious context in the history of all Islamic troops,
the value of all troops were the religiousness of the Iman and 100% believe in Allah and keep the rules of Allah,
the fight morals of Arabs depend on their Iman without 100% Iman to Allah most of them are cowards and always run away;
but among some other people this moral, honour, respect and pride is a part of their culture (they are also strong without Islam)
the Arab people are worthless cowards without islam.

I look at the green landscapes of Chechnya
and the sun has opened its fan,
dark towers have started singing
and ancient Gilgo sings with them

Daughter of Chechnya has stolen my heart
and my soul needs to fly towards her,
cliffs and gorges can't stop me
tonight I must be in Mitkho

I'll put you in my cloak till dawn
and we'll run in snow with my horse.
tired of road my arms will be your pillow
and I'll warm your frozen hands

and if anyways chasers will catch me,
let it be the will of Lashari Icon,
remember, I've always loved you
and I've never been a liar or a coward !

and when mist will cover my eyes
I'll give my soul to the Son of God, Christ
my motherland will cry when I'm dead
and my heart will beat in Chechnya

Nice song, Satyr. That's one of the only songs I enjoyed in church.

I, actually, find many esoteric religious songs from Islam and Christianity to be euphonic.

Another good one:

Makes me feel like I'm in communion with God.

Monastic Chant: 12th & 13th C. European Sacred Music. CD 1

Resonemus hoc natali
cantu quodam speciali,
Deus ortu temporali
de secreto virginali
processit hodie,
cessant argumenta perfidie.

Magnum quidem sacramentum,
mundi factor fit sic mentum,
sumens carnis indumentum,
ut conferat adiumentum,
humano generi,
cetus inde mirantur superi.

Post memorem redit risus,
aperitur paradisus,
et in terris Deus visus,
lapis manus ne precisus,
quem vidit Daniel,
quem venturum predixit Gabriel.

Hic est noster angularis,
spes iustorum salutaris,
hic est noster salutaris,
potens celi, terre, maris,
facture condolens,
quam premebat tirannus insolens.

At this birth let us sing out
with some special song,
God comes forth today in temporal birth
from virginal mystery,
let the disputes
of the faithless cease.

Indeed the mighty maker of the world
thus is made the sacrament of the spirit,
taking on the cloak of flesh
that he might bestow aid
to the human race,
the heavenly assembly is astonished at this.

After mourning, laughter returns,
paradise is opened,
and God is seen upon the earth,
the stone uncut by human hand
which Daniel saw,
whose coming Gabriel foretold.

This is our cornerstone,
the healing hope of the upright,
this is our saving power
over the heavens, earth, and sea,
consoling by his act
those whom the insolent tyrant oppressed.

Georgian and Corsican Polyphony. Similarity.

It is amazing how two peoples who have been seperated from each other, yet share a common blood link, still express themselves with similar ways of magnificence.
The cultural expressiveness is through blood, the genetic make-up of a nation; in rare occasions so beautiful, a Natural gift.

The environment shapes the (collective) mind over time; due to certain requirements needed in order to survive (or simply the most desired) in a particular spherical-environment. Such as mountains, hilly landscapes, flatlands, the sea, or...modern, sterile, artificial environments.

Thus a culling in accordance with the environment.
Later these characteristics outside the environment in which they had evolved, are selected through social /sexual selection and continuing that which used to be Natural, even if these characteristics are in contrary with the new environment they now live in.
Thus the expressiveness through dance, poetry, music, art etc., of two peoples separated from each other, are able to remain extraordinary similar to each other.

The only cancer today is modernism which destroys / hides these characteristics; and no selection is a certainty of a past continuation.
The sea used to shape the minds of my people, a constant struggle, giving and taking; today due to the sheltering technology and ideology, no specific selection is desired. And if it is desired, it cannot be selected due to being cut off from the past and thus these characteristics are stagnated within infantility.

Too much, and of too high a measure, of earned, meritocratic perpetuation to let people disregard and destroy it because they can't handle differentiation, schism, otherness.
