PostSubject: Rude PROFESSors Rude PROFESSors EmptyWed Jul 16, 2014 6:07 am

During my time in college ive noticed that whenever i attempt to introduce some of the concepts discussed in this forum to most college professors, even in a broad sense and alone, they have a rude tendency to cut me off midway and either take everything mentioned at face value or divert away from the main idea to a nonrelevant point.

Yes yes i know these fruits are not for all but it is amusing seeing these dogs barking, this keeps reminding me that we speak in two different languages.

Anyone here have a similar experience?

Almost everybody that works for the establishment is either egalitarian or socialist.

Honestly, you have a better chance talking to a wall.

You actually do this?
Fantastic.
I wish I could be present and observe their reactions - their body language.

These are philosophy professors?
What topics did you attempt to present to them? Race, sex, the Jewish question?
It's the big triad.
Being products of the institution they serve they are only obliged to think within the narrative they were taught, and they paid good money to be trained in.
Their careers are on the line.
Their job is to repeat the curriculum, in the prescribed way.
The more liberal, creatives ones, will improvise their own methods, but never veer outside the lines.

What I do is I allude to some topics, when I am amongst strangers, and depending on the reactions I proceed or I pull back.
I usually get blank stares or a discomfort, sometimes expressing an agitation.
I never go on.

Rarely I find interest and I expand.
But then it usually leads to a disinterest.
Moderns want to carry on with their lives.
They would rather speak of sex, love, money and have very little passion for abstract ideas or political, social theory.

College professors, both liberal and conservative, represent and defend a status quo almost exactly the same as ILP. If you get negative remarks, reprimanded, censored, or banned from ILP, then that is the reflection of "real life".

If you can't say it on ILP then you can't say it in the classroom either.

I remember I enrolled in college when I was 20.

I enrolled only because I longed for some intellectual challenges and because I was curious. Upon the first day, immediately I became aware of the fact that knowledge and truth was the LAST thing on everyone agenda. From general word of mouth and various personal interactions with students, I realized that it was all about the money, social status, careerism, and the usual empty bullshit. I wanted to pursue philosophy at the time, and the career counselor, I’ll never forget his reaction, simply stared blankly at me for what seemed like a whole minute and then eagerly shook his head and asked with pronounced bafflement: “why?”. He then proceeded to use overly-aggressive salesmanship stratagems to convince me to go for the more popular majors, nursing, business administration yaddya, yadda. The culture is so materialistic and shallow, they simply cannot fathom how anyone would attend simply for the sake of learning and knowledge. College is a depressing environment as well. It's isolated and intellectually impoverished. A "clock-in-clock-out" work place. No passion for knowledge or creative discourse.

I took an English writing class. They offered an online forum for students to discuss homework studies and other general topics of interest. I was getting into Paganism at the time, and eventually I incited some heated arguments on the student forum. They accused me of being a Satanist. HA!

Another class I took in the summer was a cultural psychology class that focused on psychological differences between races. That one was actually not bad. We had some decent discussions. The female instructor however, took some offense to me, when I commented on that emotionally infused melodramatic propaganda film “Crash” that she made us watch for class discussion, offending some other students in the process. I remember she also confronted me at one point from a paper I wrote complaining about my improper grammar and other superficially irrelevant mistakes that had nothing to do with the substance or contentions of what I had written.

Charles Bukowski attended college during world war 2, he used to openly preach Nazi propaganda around his campus. In class he would stand up at random interrupting lectures and go on impassioned rhetorical-fuled rants of National Socialism. Sometimes, when you become aware of the futility of being accepted by minds indoctrinated from reality,. All you can do is stir up the hive and study the effected reactions for your own benefit.

I dropped out three times. I was getting into Allan Bloom’s illuminating Open Mind essay at the time and very soon I got a hold of Kaczynki’s manifesto, and at the time I already knew I would never go back, I was far too disillusioned at that point.

College has become an institution much like many others that have fallen to the economically debt-ridden capitalist system. It has become nothing more than an avaricious monetary inflated business. I have a niece, who is trying to work a full time job and take four college courses, like so many others. She recently told me it was up to $1100 for an average semester. Absolutely absurd, I feel bad for her.

PostSubject: Re: Rude PROFESSors Rude PROFESSors EmptyWed Jul 16, 2014 2:58 pm

I have only tried to speak to a few people about these ideas face to face, or in public. Ireland is not a very intellectual country. One very much feels like a member of another species.

There was one old man who owned a bookshop in Cork who had a gift to listen properly and thoughtfully, to understand fully all that was said and to give an intelligent response. I patronized his store for a while and probed, learning more about him through interaction and observation.
Tourists loved him, especially Americans. They found him entertaining; I suspect the average moron is unfamiliar with receiving such penetrating attention as this man could give. Flattered, perhaps.
Other old men, and some younger, would visit his shop to be listened to and hear his judgements. He would hold court like this everyday, as far as I could see.

He was a christian, and an ex-communist, who prayed to the spirit of his dead mother. I think he found religion when the fact of mortality neared. In his earlier life he had undertaken fund-raising campaigns for various negro "opposition leaders" from Africa. Either the Ugandan or Zimbabwean one, I forget.
I asked him how he felt about his actions, given the state of African countries after Europeans had left. He had no answer, for all his eloquence and thoughtfulness in comfortable topics. Even considering it seemed to make him uneasy.

He had opposed the war in Vietnam during the 60s and grew angry when I asked him how else the US could have forestalled the advance of Communism without nuclear war... other than through proxy wars in small Asian countries.

I discussed the EU with him, and Ireland's supposed continuing neutrality, when our legislation is now determined by unelected people in another country. He thought that the EU is needed for economic reasons, that our economy would collapse without it. I pointed out the example of Iceland, but he was not interested.

What turned me against him was his injunction that I should "sell" him my thoughts or observations on a subject. What he meant was that I should convince him better, because he had been doubting something I had been saying.
But I think this perspective of his exposes how the modern looks for the personal advantage in a perspective and judges it's worth not on it's accuracy but on it's usefulness to the one holding it, either emotionally, politically or whatever. Ignorance is bliss, delusion is comfortable; both are profitable, therefore.
What he really seemed to mean, to me, was that I should present one of my ideas to him such that he could buy it, by being convinced, and then consume it by believing in it and thereby gaining some sort of psychosocial benefit.

Reality did not interest him either. He had an ability to listen, a social gift, and an eloquence; but I realized he both bored and annoyed me. He sold thoughts and conversation along with his books, it appeared.
I have not bothered to visit him since.

It seems to me that both the intellectual and the unintellectual are very well programmed in this culture..... and that the inclination to go against programming is not really related to intelligence as such, but to a certain kind of spirit, a sort of challenging rebellious nature which exists in the greatest numbers (in my experience) outside the intellectual class.
Considering this is a memetic war, I think it is obvious that the most effort is being made to intervene in the developing phase of young intellectuals, during university, to ensure that they become worthwhile assets to the system. It follows then that these places would serve firstly to indoctrinate the youth and only secondarily educate them in any skill.

Look elsewhere.

College is probably great if you're taking physics or some hard science that requires proper instruction.  If you're taking anything in the liberal arts, everyone has an agenda.  It's all petty politics.  I had an English Lit professor that thought Nietzsche was a misogynist and "proto-Nazi", she would get visibly upset when i mentioned him, absolutely refused further discussion, quite a sight.  These people generally do take their titles(their PhD's) very seriously.  I mean it took so much "hard work" to get there, they're owed a "certain amount of respect," right?  The basis of liberal arts education is to just "get through it" and use your time to "network" to a "promising career" (essentially just a more "advanced" education in socializing)...If you're not doing that you're not properly "taking advantage" of the "opportunities" presented.  Really, the best education most guys get is just flirting with the girls... You might get a few good professors, but it's not enough to offset the workplace atmosphere Stargazer mentions... What's even sadder is when people mention how they actually miss college after getting into the work world...the "glory days"...

Yes. It's only good these days for areas of strictly technical training; nursing, accounting, social work, executive corporate positions, whatever is the most trendy and offers the best chance of financial security, and big bucks. When philosophy is beginning to be taught as a science rather than an art, you know you're better off on the outside.

I know what you mean as well about the nostalgia moderns share about the "Glory Days". They express an even deeper sentiment for their days in high school. For them, their Glory days were about trivial enjoyment minus the rationale. As long as they indulged in as much mindless hedonism as possible they feel better knowing they were accepted as being "different" and 'outside' themselves, that they had the ability to make their mark by doing something unnatural to their values; they, being oblivious to the fact that they were the very definition of simple-minded conformity. Part of their legacy being to betray who they were for the sake of morons or collective appreciation. Self-betrayal to them in this case being an act of cool rebellion instead of a self-degradation.

They never stop to question who or what am i rebelling against? It's only after their whole life passes them by that they then finally think about it. But of course that is what makes them modern.

True intellectuals, thinkers, and philosophers should avoid universities these days.

I agree, it's simply too materialistic and capitalistic, all about the money, less or nothing about actually learning.

When I have children and they mature, I will advise them to avoid college and public education altogether.

Last week I finished paying off my student loans. Now what to do? How to live as a free man??

I went to a private liberal arts college in the American South.

I didn't fuck any of the girls.  That alone should tell you what a jack-ass I was at this time.

One thing it was good for was giving me a glimpse into the social networks of the upper middle class and how their minds work.  I also had a Marxist professor who taught us about the Frankfurt School and some of the post-structuralist stuff in his Literary Theory course--this is stuff that otherwise I wouldn't have learned about until grad school, and therefore wouldn't have been able to digest and evaluate.

He made us aware that we were all "liberal humanists," and that we didn't know it yet.  He also frankly declared that feminist theory is "philosophically incomprehensible."  He informed us in so many words that we were in college to get indoctrinated, and his course would be no different, except that he would do it openly.  I'm grateful to have had such an honest professor, who felt he was against the current and made no bones about his intentions.

He ended up hating the place, had an affair with a female student, and was politely, quietly, kicked out. That dude had his priorities straight.

Going to that college gave me an edge I wouldn't have had otherwise.

And here I thought I was the idiot for never bothering to attend postsecondary education, and instead, opting to educate myself at the library or online. I learn/discuss/debate what I want, when I want for next to nothing. I don't need a career, all I need is enough income to sustain my life force, and pursue my hobbies and interests which are inexpensive.

18-24 girls are hot in college whether liberals or conservatives...the middle class are the ones convinced that they need the college education to "get ahead" in life.

However this is proving to be a sham.

It seems unavoidable to get a better job and career without going to college or  at the very least a sort of technical trade school.

I've tried avoiding post secondary education all these years with no luck or prospects whatsoever.

This is what happens when all the colleges have a monopolization on training, certification, degrees, and apprenticeships. They force you to become a debt slave just to elevate yourself within society.  Bastards.

I'll be enrolling myself within the next year or two once I get secure at my current job.

After that it will be off to night school every day. It will probably be a technical trade school of some kind.

Ive tried this with some philosophy and science professors/doctors.

I will usually make a point on the masculine and feminine attributes in life and will often accuse me of being too simplistic or deconstruct the idea by taking it at face value or exaggerating it to attempt to shame me back to their reality.

I just tried to say something like this last week:
"Too much feminine and you have docile surrender to pleasures, to the earthly - Eros with no reason to harness its energies.

Too much masculine and and you have unleashed rage with no roots in the earthly, no grounding - Madness. Thymotic rage with no
foundations to keep it grounded.

The Satyr, the Daemon...the perfect balance between masculine/feminine....the scientist and the artist."

I wondered seeing as the science professor likes to make a mockery of religion during class if he would find this quote interesting and halfway through this i was cut off and diverted away from reading the rest to him.

I worked at the philosophy department at my college for a while and was under the supervision of one of the philosophy professors whom was also a Catholic theologian.
Similar occurrences would take place although with him i attempted to illustrate the story of the Hellenes and Hebrews giving birth to Christianity and Islam, i thought he might have some insight to this seeing as he does teach the "philosophy of religion" classes but again what was said was taken under face value and he mentioned some historical events he cited to prove the story otherwise (whom i forgot about). The idea was never given the benefit of the doubt as to how those religions behaved and still do so today.

It's the typical reaction.
The psychological traits are rejected as passe.

The insinuations turn them away from the possibilities.

Doctors, whom I work around, go on precedent and consults from older, more experienced doctors.
It's like law - all based on precedent.
Very little creative input.
In these days where doctors are sued for nothing, the script is followed religiously.

The teacher, as well, must follow the curriculum - teach this and this and that, in this order, with that narrative.

Much of the pedagogic self-satisfaction i noticed is their trained responses to certain aspects of a students creativity. Most of the time, they will only focus on technicalities that have no real significance on the content of the students talent.

There is the practical and literate method to which they are familiar, but when the material takes on a deeper aphoristic style, they feel a sense of confusion because it then deviates from formalities and that perturbs them. They have, after all, given much of their lives to the academic institution's educational codes. their identity depends on it.

I'm curious to know if you have written and submitted any formal essays or research papers, where this occurred. Where they dismissed the substance of your views by emphasizing little technicalities/discrepancies.

So it must be that middle class diet or somethign that leads to being hot. Seems to me the rich send their kids to college and the working class want to and do when they can.

Conservative hotties are less likely to fuck you though. Which puts the traditional male in the weird spot of respecting the philosophy of the liberal girls more and/or not noticing that they hate these young women for being like them - like the trad males in the philosophy of sex. However trad males yearn for both wild sex and an innocent mirror, because of their self loathing. So a women who openly likes sex as much as he does has to be a whore.

It is pretty damn unclear the degree is worth it, in pure economic terms that is. ON the learning something side, I am sure some manage to learn something but they bring to the table something most of their peers do not. And most of what everyone learns just disappears into the deadness of adult life.

Footnotes, rules of style, opening paragraphs, bland deduction, the proper sources and the proper criticism sources of the proper sources. Deadening. LIfe killing. Creativity killing. And fucking lectures. What a pedagogical idiocy. Books are very well organized - when they are - lectures. When you are paying 10s of thousands of dollars to get into rooms with 'experts' and they stand there giving not very good books or occasionally decent books, instead of coordinating a dynamic group process, they are cheating the shit out of their customers. But the lecture is a ritual of authority of the mind. This mind talks, all other minds passively take in as preparation for the upcoming tests and essays.

In my opinion, anybody interested in a study, field, or profession, should just start doing it. Intern or volunteer. If you want to become a doctor, then go to the local hospital, and don't leave until they allow you to help. Find a doctor, and trail him around. Learn from him. Go straight to the source. Why pay thousands of dollars on a useless degree?

Skip all that, use self motivation.

But you see, that's not how the peasantry and slave class thinks of the world. They are not "go getter" types. They are not self motivated. They need instruction, to be told what to do. How to think. Where to stand. They lack the ingenuity and creativity to pose a solution as I mentioned.

Don't learn to become a doctor, go start doing it, right now. Read on the internet, use a library, go to the local hospital, volunteer, intern under a doctor for free. If you're that motivated, and half intelligent, you'll probably get a paying job very soon.

During my time in college ive noticed that whenever i attempt to introduce some of the concepts discussed in this forum to most college professors, even in a broad sense and alone, they have a rude tendency to cut me off midway and either take everything mentioned at face value or divert away from the main idea to a nonrelevant point.
