What If Empty

Why are these posts relegated to The Dungeon......

What If

Now that I'm older, an adult, I often find myself reminiscing upon my youth and wondering "What-If?" I had a guide, tutor, leader, instructor, proper educator, philosopher to teach me the ways of the world. Then I consider all the falsity that I've been raised with, and all those around me who are still heavily, heavily indoctrinated. I felt and intuited, from a very young age, that something was "wrong" with the world around me. People spoke, and often contradicted themselves, here and there. People forgave such contradictions, overlooked and ignored them. Humanity at large, often pretends they don't exist. They are covered-up. So young children, who are above-average intelligence, grow up with a cognitive dissonance. How can men and women be "equal", when there are no examples of such equality? How can races begin with "equal" intelligence or playing field? Can criminals be "educated" to not be criminals, or isn't it in their nature? Does Nurture trump Nature, or Nature trump Nurture? Why are the "races equal" to liberals on one hand, but "races don't exist" on the other? Which is it? Does God exist? Which God? How many Gods?

And so these questions stuck inside of me, until a young adult, I discovered "Philosophy". There I began to identify with what I intuited to be my Nature, role, and specialization. Am I a "Philosopher" and what does it mean to be one? I had so many questions, but no answers. So eventually I began to look online, which led me to ILP and other forums, long ago. I've been through the major and popular forums. Even there, there were others similar to me, but never "good-enough". All my answers still could not be answered sufficiently, or honestly, or simply.

I began to pose my Questions, one after another, online. I was always dissatisfied. I could never find an individual, a man, an authority, an intelligencia, another Philosopher who could stand toe-to-toe with me. Eventually a few rose to the top, and I began to learn from the stronger ones. A few of these individuals stuck-out, and still stick-out. But, coming to now, my dissatisfaction remains. So many Questions, still unanswered. Age takes its tole. Endurance wears thin. And so I begin to be forced, to answer the Questions myself. And my own answers must suffice. Because no other "Philosophers" exist to answer them.

Philosophy is a timeless domain. The "Philosophers" of the past, write for the future, posing their unanswered Questions to later generations. Because although a small bit of philosophy can be done within a lifetime, perhaps. And although a few philosophers can challenge one-another, while alive, the pool of wisdom is small. But the well of philosophy is deep.

The thing about philosophy and Philosophers, is this. Nobody really has "The Answers" or "The Truth", but rather philosophy and philosophers are in a constant searching and exploring. When I was young, I mistakingly believed that such a search could occur together, a pair, a group, a large array of philosophers seeking out the same Ends. But this was misguided. Because individuals are driven by their particular genes, in particular cultures, and with particular ideals of their own. Much of "Philosophy" involves politics, where the individual desires and goals are hoped to be justified, through the ends of philosophy.

So of the major "philosophers" of my life, how many of them were authentic and pure, to the pursuit of wisdom? And how many had their own, misguided agendas? Using philosophy as a means to some other end? Using philosophy as a means to more petty and ignoble ends? There is much of this too.

One important lesson I've learned is that a "Philosopher" must be recognized and identified by his ability to engage in good-faith argument. This means a set premise with open-ended conclusions. Philosophers will be very open and honest with premises, as much as they realize them within themselves to begin with. An adept or beginner may have many false-premises and dishonest compulsions. These must be teased-out by a more experienced Philosopher, called-out. The contradictions laid-down, for all to see. And for the inferior mind to answer to those contradictions publicly, shamefully at first, and then, to learn from mistakes. Few "Philosophers" do this, especially in this Modern era.

Here is an insight.

In this world of 7 billion humans, connected through the internet, shouldn't Humanity have... 1000 philosophers online? How about 100? 10? Surely, there has to be at least 10?

But there can be fewer. There can be...only one, perhaps. Or None. Philosophy is not a Necessity of life and evolution. Rather it is a noble End. Philosophy represents both the Highest Height of humanity, and connects to the Lowest-Low. A line from bottom, to top, and from top, to bottom. A solid connection, with flawless reasoning along the way.

Wouldn't it have been nice, and convenient, and oh-so-much better, with such a tutor as a teenager, and young adult?

Because here's the crux. So many lives are wasted upon lies and falsity. So many humans buy into their spoon-fed propagandas, ideologies, religions, and indoctrination. Few have the insight to recognize contradiction, flaws, and weakness in such memetic systems. Fewer have the courage to challenge them, and the norm. Because to challenge the norm, will immediately isolate and outcast an individual. Philosophers are outcast. Because Philosopher necessarily asked the "Wrong" questions, and arrived at the "Wrong" answers. Philosophy entails a type of "freedom", of thought, that the rest of humanity either could not ever know, or would not want to know it, if they could.

Philosophy by Ability, the intelligence to see (contradictions, flaws, irrationality) that others cannot

Philosophy by Risk, the courage to set-oneself apart, to argue, to conflict, and to isolate, in favor of any "anti-social" types of Truth.

Quite simply, the human brain just is not good enough to do the job of philosophy.

It cannot answer the tough questions, like free will, or the hard problems of consciousness. So philosophy kind of just trickles down into, what is practical politics. And there are many philosophers, politicians, who discuss what rules and customs we ought to or should not ought to follow. The difference is, some of these people do not have a varied enough life experience, to really know it that well. So we have a bunch of SJWs, who say they are for female empowerment against backwards religious views, but are perfectly fine and valid with Muslims. And they shelter themselves in a little safe space bubble, like common internet forums, or Facebook, where they are immune to criticism. So instead of philosophy, it becomes tyranny, where only one voice is heard and brainwashed to the masses, like a typical religion. And philosophy ceases to be, instead it is a group of nodding heads, walking on eggshells, afraid to offend someone and receive punishment.

.......as opposed to Sam Hyde, who is by the way a second rate comedian, not a philosopher by any stretch of the imagination, who has only a need to share his intense butthurt over his miserable car dwelling life.
I think "What If"'s place on this Forum should be reversed and allowed a place in the public domain of Know Thyself.

Is there a valid reason why this has occurred?

After wasting years on ILP, I no longer have much patience for 'public' philosophy. I consciously choose to post in the dungeon because it is a private domain that only registered users, few of which I have any respect, can read and respond.

Sounds somewhat dispiriting, but understandable.

Thanks for your response.

I also made him the mod of the Dungeon years ago, so he has complete control over it.

Spirited, "Positive", "Happy Philosophy" comes later, much later.

First potential-philosophers must be put through the gauntlet.

HA!   Keep biting 'them' on the ass, you can't degrade yourself any lower than the Dungeon, where you rightly belong.

I can just see you all conferring like a lot of old women.  How do we deal with this woman!  This is hilarious.
Did you have a 'meeting' and decide what course of action to take.

Hey trust me Wyrm, they might promote you to WINTER, I mean you deserve it, you have waited soooo long and you belong here, why don't they see that and recognise your outstanding philosophical abilities?

It is not fair, is it Wyrm?

Nobody respects your opinions.

The only thing that "gets through" to me, is not mockery or petulant attempts at shame, but rather, sound-reasoning and influential philosophy.

Come back when you have something interesting to say, preferably, about philosophy. Your "intelligence" is pathetic, even for a woman.

PostSubject: Re: What If What If EmptyFri Apr 08, 2022 6:21 pm

The "what if?" question is the mot seductive.
It implies infinite space/time, or possibilities unrestricted by probabilities so a controlled absolute chaos where everything and anything is equally possible but probabilistic enough to be predictable, or controllable.
A contradiction.
Probability implies the exclusion of possibilities, or patterns that repeat consistently and predictably, and this contradicts absolute chaos, or infinite possibilities where anything sand everything is possible, sequentially and simultaneously.
