Yes, life and man is the Cosmos awakening to itself.
and like self-consciousness, there's a distancing and a antagonism between the mind awakening to the body, as it also occurs within organic life.
With it a sense of vulnerability and insecurity....where nihilism takes root as a defensive reaction attempting to cope with what it is being exposed to, i.e., its own limitations, and how it compares with other.
Life life, the cosmos is a process, not a final thing - an open ended becoming, not an enclosed being.
This is the most terrifying aspect of its awakening: expanding possibilities, viz, fragmentation, mutinying, expanding space, measured in time, i.e., change, interactivity...Flux.
Like consciousness of self - mind/body - the mind may be unaware of itself, or may lie to itself, or may dismiss, reject, deny itself...remaining eternally ignorant of itself, because self is, also, not a thing, not an enclosure, not a being, but a process, an open-ended continuum.
