Police arrived in record time - presumably because of the dispatchers intuition - to save him as he was struggling with the intruder, and then the man arrested was not released on bail, as it is done in every other case in California.
Why?

If it had been some regular shmuck he would have died, and if the perp was arrested he would have been out walking the streets immediately after his arrest.
