Sex and identity
SexSex is contained within social conventions.
In this case it reflects a female-centered controlled return to primal sexual practices, minus the male sexual behaviors - they are more strictly controlled.
The liberation from paternalism is accompanied by an enslavement to institutionalized masculinity.
Masculinity minus the male sex.
All is lowered to the level of an adolescent playing under the watchful power of a god-like parent...a spirit that is everywhere and nowhere, has a presence but no physical form - the latter can be represented by anything and anyone.
That's the sexual component.
A powerful one given that 'human' is a sexual designation, and male/female are its specialized forms.
When love (the agape type) is absent (trust, loyalty, camaraderie etc.) eros compensates by becoming obsessive, dominating all human relationships.
Art repeats love stories, all conversations refer to human relationships, because it is this which is waning.
Just as hyper-masculinity is a compensating exaggeration for a diminishing masculine energy, hyper-sexuality, this feminized Dionysian exaggerates sexuality, is a compensation for a diminishing sexuality. Everything has to be exaggerated to a child's fantasy so as to feel it.
- Baudrillard, Jean wrote:
- At the heart of pornography is sexuality haunted by its own disappearance.
Numbing has a place here.
The airing of everything in public turns minds jaded, cynical...the fatigue of too much exposure.
Like being slapped. After a few dozen slaps the skin becomes numb. It feels less and less. The strike must become stronger, more exaggerated.
Everything must be exaggerated: sexual organs, muscles, faces, clothes, attitudes, words, sensations...
A zombie is essentially an organism with no nerve endings...they are rotting away. It feels nothing below a certain level. It is numb, to the world....feeling only its own hunger (self-referential).
Sex has lost its severity, with technologies, with social interventions.
It has become a child's toy. Fear reduced, the price reduced.
The spiritual component is reduced, leaving behind flesh, the act itself...empty, a game, hedonism with no risks, to goal.
Dicks and vaginas on display.
Like children: infertile, exploratory, playful...not female/male completely, sexual ambiguity.
Chemically, technologically self-castrated - a reversion to a condition of sexual immaturity.
Sex with no fertilization.
A zombie eats but its appetite is not abated - a glutton that is not affected by the nutrition consumed It passes through him, leaving behind the decay, the hunger.
Identity When the past is slandered, visited, through text, like a tourist reading a travel brochure, when it is forgotten, or partially known and interpreted within modern values, the loss is one of identity.
The history buff visits the past, knowing he is unaffected by it....like modern western tourists visit exotic places, which are now westernized, putting on a show for the visitor.
The tourist thinks he is experiencing something different when it is a show. He returns to his hotel room, knowing he will return to his home. none of the experience touches him, except as a superficial experience, like a movie we watches for two hours and then leaves to return to his humdrum life.
Who are we?
The sum of our entire past.
To know your past is to "know thyself"...to accept this past is to accept yourself....to understand this past is to understand yourself.
Ergo, he who controls the past, controls the future, by shaping the children's knowledge of self, their identifications.
- Orwell, George wrote:
- Who controls the past controls the future. Who controls the present controls the past.
Containing perception within the modern, the immediate, is the amputation of self-knowledge.
The individuals raised in modern nihilistic systems hunger for self.
The past is out of reach, not permitted, a source of shame...their alternative?
The immediate.
They grab upon the modern, the institutionalized, the popular, the in-style, to find a sense of identity, to discover self-worth, to be given direction, purpose, meaning.
What does the modern nihilistic system offer them?
Action with no severity.
Self with no cost.
Quantities of production.
Matter as a garment to hide the nakedness, the decaying flesh: hip clothing, makeup, surgical improvements, automobiles pronouncing penis decay, recyclable things (relationships, objects, art), the endless pursuit of the next "fix", the next "high" (consumerism, hedonism, materialism, entertainment).
