Intelligence, over a certain level, does not translate into success, in the monetary social sense.
I would think that it hinders it.

It's not cool to brag about having been a child genius....

But parents are more than welcome to showcase their kids.

Go to wiki and check out list of child prodigies.

Seems their chances for future success is pretty high. Ted Kaczynski is up there though.

Well you do understand his primary goal was a failure. He has done nothing to stop the technological revolution and since his arrest it has only been exponentially accelerating as fast as it was when he was destroying intellectuals with his bombs. He did successfully lived in a shack on his own, I'll give him that, but that doesn't require the effort and aptitude of a genius. He did kill some people, however he was unable to persuade public opinion without doing such. Perhaps there are those who have changed their mind with technology but then again, how would we know, as we wouldn't be able to communicate with them. If that's his goal great. Then there are the hypocrites, who buy into his technological diatribe, yet utilize it anyways. He has spent the last 15 years in a technologically advanced maximum security facility. Where do you fall, Ms. IV as to gauging this success that I am unable to see?

It was an expression.

An art.

Like any good serial killing.

Of course no one understands ;pp

Except I must say, the government certainly does, and anyone able to see things for what they are....

The prosecutors....those that hunted him down....they knew he was not crazy, and not a criminal...

He was a CIA experiment, and he went mad with fury because of what they had done to him. It was originally a vendetta and escalated into a cause for humanity and the environment.

Bah, everyone is successful by the standard of their life and actions being an artistic expression.

Can't say that list held very many people that are well known...or really became that successful some...but not that many.

The first that comes to mind is Mozart. He was trained in music from a very young age and was also composing from a very young age.

He died in his thirties and was buried in a mass grave. His body was limed. None of his children survived and he has no living descendents.

Funny i would think of Mozart too, but not on the Wikipedia entry... which goes to show how well the mainstream understands intellect... the classification of child genius is almost irrelevant in my opinion, while it gives us some info people seem to put too much weight on it, often the truly successful and intellectuals are thought stupid and disobedient when children... Great people come from both states...its random...people pay attention to one and ignore the others... perhaps the trials that arriase as such lead to growth though.

The "mainstream" associated intellect with social success. They can't imagine any other reason to have a mind if it is not to be liked or to be famous or to be wealthy or powerful.

The mainstream are retards.

Kaczynski's "problem" is not found in his actions, but in his reasoning.
Many think of killing but how many follow through with it despite the cost/benefit possibilities?

He thought he could change things, but not only this, he wanted to change things.
He was naive.
He believed that living in the woods would save him from the system or from the very technologies it employed and he despised.

Perhaps exploring how intelligence, above and beyond a certain level, actually inhibits success, or directs it towards behaviors and activities which have nothing to do with the mainstream bullshit.
Also, an additional factor to be considered is the role leisure plays in all of this.

How can you be sure of all of that? How do you know what was going through his mind?

He thoroughly planned out what he wanted to do and did it.

He ran the risk of getting caught, clearly... I don't think he was ever naive about it. The worse that could happen is he could get jailed for life or executed. He already felt jailed and dead so what did it really matter....

His intelligence wasn't what ceased to prevent him from acting compulsively and turning into a killer. I'm sure that was much more of a disposition and what we might call the gut to really not give a shit and do what you want despite the consequences :p

He was a lonely psychopathic genius. That's a recipe.

Little girl, this is the kind of shit your kind falls upon to evade.

How does anyone know what anyone is thinking?
He watches the others actions, connects them with the actions he has experienced personally or has conducted himself, and he deduces.

How do you know a dog will not bite you?
How do you assume that it will not? are you ever absolutely sure?

When I see a cow shitting in the fields I assume her intestines are full and that she's eaten in the not so distant past. I do not require an ex-ray or mind-reading, you simple, simply bufoon.

in other words he was an idealist. He wished to a martyr himself for humanity; he wanted to make a point.

Yes, he was a bit off.
Anyone who wishes to sacrifice himself for animals, or thinks that morons will get his point or be overly affected by it, has got to have a few loose screws up there.

Ummm no, it's just a reasonable perspective. You should try it.

In this context, are you saying that you often have the urge to bite people or...?

Let's compare the Unabomber to a cow shitting in a field. Why not?

I think you're thinking like you again.

He was not biting people....

You're right.

He was sacrificing himself for shitting cows. Now your metaphors are making sense.

Yes, shall we?

Or is he some demi-god or an alien?

Both act in accordance to their will.
Both exhibit their will even when they are trying to hide it.
Both their minds can be evaluated after-the-fact, by analyzing their actions.

Now return to being cute and adorable to hide how simple you are.

However I'm not sure I exactly would take any of this towards the stance that eugenicists do.

I don't really think intelligence is genetical or biologically inherent in specific individuals.

Certain forms of environmental conditioning do apply.

Yes, and so the inherited conditioning (nature) is applied real-time, (nurture) and it results in genius or stupidity or, most often, in mediocrity.

Now, for me, genius also entails elements of courage and the element of near destruction, as the sensitive mind also risks madness or being broken by its own nature coming into contact with a chaotic and threatening world.

The more you see and the more you understand, all the more you are exposing yourself to pain/suffering and the anxiety associated with the unknown.

Well... his intentions could have been to pave the road for other travels so that succes could be made in the future. But the problem with that is that his form associated disgust with the idea of anti-tech. or whatever.

Sounds a bit Buddhist there... so how does one escape suffering?

Did I say "escape"?
I suppose thinking in degrees requires a learning process.
I'm forced to offer disclaimers with every word I use....because language implies absolutes.

Decrease...not escape.
But not even this...it has to do with tolerance.

Perhaps I must disclaim that I am not presuming that's what you said but rather asking a question period. It seems you often read in implication because you assume I am as ignorant as most of the people you are used to. I would appreciate some "Logical Charity."

And yet again perhaps it is a matter of either of us learning the others form of thought, so as to understand their personal sub-dialect.

Σατυρ wrote:

A reduction is still an escape from the extreme. The idea I would mean by suffering is extreme displeasure. when it is not extreme to me it is not suffering.
