Jason and the Orgonenuts

Jason looked out the window, and it was raining. A blue bird sat on a tree and he stared long and went back in, feeling a shiver of momentary disquiet running in him. Just then the kettle whistled. The aroma of coffee was soothing.

A lizard ran up the ceiling. It was a good omen, he thought. It had stuck with him like his only other two companions. His orgonenuts. Wherever he went, they went too. It wasn't easy to miss them.
The last time he recalled them fondly, they were on quite an adventure. Jason had tapped on both of them, and pulled them closer in that urgency his orgonenuts were used to anticipating. This time too, would be a quick reckoning, they thought. And they were right. One for all, and all for one.

Yes, they could always rely on each other. Those days, so vivid… flowed out of him. His memories had a liquid quality to it. It always felt like a deja vu in the now.
He couldn't really tell. Had he seen a pecker there? Or was it here?

Outside, the trees were dripping with dews. The rain had stopped. There was no bird to be seen.

He enjoyed his coffee looking forward to his day.

Life as a ventriloquist wasn't hard, he had to admit. As a child, he had always loved watching the travelling circuses, fully taken by the gimmicks of lock-pickers and escape artists, although he himself could never open any. That's when he had slowly discovered his knack for dummies and visual capture. His orgonenuts would often get into a knot themselves, bemused by his effect. He had to laugh at that. Atleast he wasn't stealing from others, he was making his own entertainment.

He had put his all into many a sock-puppet with the same hambone energy as he had the first time into this furry skunk he had picked up. It reminded him of something very close he just couldnt put a finger on, and he had brushed it aside and forgotten all about it then. Strange, how it all seemed like it just happened yesterday, when he was just a budding greenhorn.

A decade had passed.

Things needed to change, he nodded his head.
Voices seemed to be coming from everywhere.

He just wasn't going to have it.

Dammit! he banged his fist...

A resolution was needed.
And fast. Else, things were going to get very nasty.
