Trump's election has greatly diminished the US's resolve, which is currently turning inward leaving a space to be exploited. Turkey sees this as an opportunity to establish a new Ottoman presence. they want to be the leaders of the Islamic world.
The only other challengers are Iran, and Saudi Arabia.

Greece is the weaker neighbour, now that things are not going so well for them in Syria.

Energy self-sufficiency would make China into a world player.
This is the true threat to the Jerusalem-Washington Globalization plan
Iran is being used by the Chinese to intervene in the middle-east.
Saudi Arabia is a US puppet-State and turkey is siding with Russia.
This triad is claiming the leadership position in the Islamic world.
Coincidentally the heart of the Islamic world is over a energy rick region.
This will not be so indefinitely.
New energy sources are available one being in the South China sea area which is being claimed by China with the method of creating islands out of nowhere.
New technologies are also being developed to move away from traditional energy sources.
This will have to immediate impact on the value of oil, because most of the world is not technologically advanced enough and is still reliant on fossil fuels.

Even if the most advanced nations do become less dependent on fossil fuels control of them will still be a way of dominating the world.
Globalization is code for Americanization....and Americanization's only challenger is China.
There the Abrahamic dis-ease has no effect, so the usual methods of mind-control will be impotent when applied to Chinese born populations - the meme is immune to Abrahamic Nihilism.

They also want to stop the harvesting of gas that would make Europe less dependent on Russia, severely decreasing her global clout; the US wants to  stop the gradual intrusion of Iran, and China through Iran, into the middle-east, by setting up a Kurdish state as a buffer. Protecting Israel is the protection of her own elite and the Anglo-Saxon Protestant/Jewish alliance that emerged prominently after the second world war. Control of the energy is a control of European development; China has found gas in the South China Sea and is proceeding to appropriate the region by building artificial islands that extend her borders to encompass the area. Making inroads into Asia, through Iran, would also make China energy independent, which was always how the US slowed down Chinese development. Control of energy is the ability to control who develops economically, and how fast; France and Germany are realizing that the New World Order means a drastic reduction of their importance to the US that is trying to stop its decline from Super Power status by rebuilding its strategy and realigning itself with regional powers. Europe's problem is slow integration and no energy reserves. It is slowly unifying and developing alternate energy technologies. The biggest problem was the UK's constant vetoing any integration that exceeded markets. Brexit and Trump's election permitted Europe - Franco/Germany - to move faster towards military and civil integration. The big question is if Germany will overcome its post-war shame, cultivated by the Anglo-Saxon/Jewish alliance, and will European nations find their common heritage, beginning with Christianity, but then going further back to their pagan, tribal, roots. Cosmopolitan but distinct - able to absorb rather than be absorbed.
'Economy' is code for bankers control over peoples, and 'free markets' is code for American dominance. Open markets has always meant the release of instinct from traditions so as to make them easily exploitable and manipulable. A new 'Cold War' is shaping.

Europe will be forces to consolidate its economic and political power, and will begin fast-tracking a military union. But they have to remain inconspicuous.
The economic war against Germany started years ago.
Russia is the wild card.

Trump want to include Russia i the G7 summits, returning them to G8 because the US does not want Russia to side with China.
This will give an opportunity for Europe to unify, if Germany gets over post-modernity and the post-war guilt they've been brainwashed with.

Unification will require another noble spirit to rally behind, one that is wise enough to remain hidden until the proper time comes for them to reveal themselves to the world.

I doubt Germany will be the catalyst for such a movement or spirit, with the grip the US has on it, anything or anyone will be nipped in the bud before it can blossom...

Turkey is an Asiatic tribe, a brutish one, that tried to compensate for its genetic inferiority by infusing its bloodline with the genes of the tribes it conquered.
One of which was the Greek tribes, after conquering Constantinople, which has been devastated by the attacks of western Crusaders.

Presently it is attempting to revive its past glory, the Ottoman Empire.

Europe is no longer its prime source of alliances, except as a buffer against Russia.

Turkey is turning away from this emerging SuperState, and turning towards its ancestral lands in Asia - Turkmenistan. It has more memetic (cultural) and genetic ties with this region, and not with the Atlantic SuperState.  Blood is thicker than water.

I was in Macedonia two months ago. The capital city literally looks as if tho its been newly renovated by Golden Dawn - antique statues and architecture everywhere.
