Maybe he's taking a stance in middle of a common polarity in the mindsets of American men. They want to have no responsibilities, until they want to take absolute control. Politics is nothing but a social grooming tool for them until it becomes a way for them to vent their impotence, pretending to have a stake in national and global events for which they actually have no say whatsoever. What comes to mind is the difference between living excessively and arrogantly and living small and proud.
