I haven't watched a music video in a very long time. Also NW is not really good if it's not live, not for me anyway, too overproduced maybe. But the subject of artificial reality and how the social world dominates people's perception of what constitutes the actual real world outside of it is good.

That's what I dislike about most Finnish bands, they all over-produce and aim to be pop music, even on their first album release when they don't even have a fanbase yet they try sound like a radio band. They water down the metal sound on purpose, which I find extremely frustrating.

It's almost too much on the live-versions as well for me to like it. I have no idea why they do it, nothing to gain and everything to lose. At a decently loud listening level it still works okay but the dynamic range is just too small on the live recordings as well.
The live recording is its own thing anyway. Sure, mess up your album because some radio stations might not play you otherwise (although I don't really believe that popular explanation myself) but why also compress the live recording too much? Who are those people who prefer it this way?

Haha, I would rather hear something that's recorded on a phone.
Maybe these people are the ones who buy the best headphones on the market, who do not develop their ears, but just keep buying the new devices/gadgets to make it sound better. It must be the same kind of people who think watching movies in blu-ray makes them better, higher the resolution, more better the movie is.

I have to ask around in some Nightwish comment sections: "Talking about Noise, why does Nightwish compress their albums too much? What is it in the Finnish water which makes them compress their good tunes to noise?"

I would be surprised if you encounter any self-awareness, they don't even know what you mean by that. Most people can't even explain why they like something, they like it because others like it too.

I find it quite a lot easier to discern the instruments in the 5.1 downmix. Yes the 5.1 downmix is a bit louder in the mix but even if you adjust the volume it still is more differentiated. It's apparently not the only case nor band where a 5.1 mix has a broader dynamic range than the Stereo mix.
This does not mean that 5.1 mixes always come with a broader dynamic range, it's at the discretion of the one who does the mix in the studio.
The *conductor is some Indian guy (oh wait HISPANIC) and I'm sure they all believe in modern beliefs (too diverse orchestra to have a common cause), they lack the imagination, I can feel it, I want the authentic Basil Poledouris. They couldn't even re-create the imagery of the movie, I feel like listening it without the clip is taking it out of context.
80's isn't that long ago, but everything has changed, they wouldn't allow movies like this to be made now. Remember when you could cast people in the movies based on their looks and how they fit in without being condemned.

The conductor looks to me to be Spanish, I imagine with some Moor admixture. I looked it up after you mentioned him, his name is Diego Navarro. I think the whole orchestra is located in Spain, looks as a whole too European to place it in Latin America. I also find the "multi-cultural" elements regrettable.
As for the music, I already posted the soundtrack of Conan some time ago so I was looking for some new angle on it  but ultimately they didn't really add anything to the music in that concert, for better or worse. You get to see an orchestra playing but musically I would also stick to the original soundtrack. If you are not better than the original then the cover remains a short lived novelty.
I think the movie was filmed in Spain btw.

Yep, I do that too. I like hearing different interpretations. But even when I'm listening bands, I'm taking their appearance into consideration. I don't like hearing classical music performed by Asians for example, they play perfectly, but it doesn't have the soul.

Sounds crazy not to do that, but here we are. From what I can tell it changed drastically around the early 90s or mid-90s. That's also the time when they started messing up the dynamic range of Audio-CD masters.

I'm not sure about the music, the talking parts in it are bible verses or excerpts, partly Psalms 23 "...Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death...".
