I've heard that too, but I don't really listen since when the war started each side was calling each other Jews as well, it's like people mix-up different conspiracies however they like

Even if it was, I don't really think that Russian public is that wise, that this is the reason why they would collectively call Wagnerites traitors, I believe it has mostly to do with that place is close to Moscow where most rich people live (oh wait it wasn't, but anyway I stick to my point)

That Putin is good for the upper-middle class and good for certain people, while a lot of them live in absolute misery/poverty
(and also Russia has a lot of "rednecks" who truly believe state media unconditionally, and not saying they only lie about things, but seeing how the situation is now...)

Just like I've heard many Russians remember soviet union fondly, that everything was great then, but at what cost and who paid for it. People were sent to die wave after wave, and some who survived just happened to have a good life while it lasted, it's a bit selfish.

(And that's one of the reasons I call it the culture of indifference, because if I was in same situation and just happened to survive a slaughter by a chance I don't think I would be able to enjoy all the "riches" or higher quality of life knowing how many comrades were just sent to die without any military strategy)

I think it's likely that he is in some ways connected with Western organizations.
