What is po(o)p culture? It is a boiling down of all intelligence and sophistication into slop drudge, into sewage. All (f)art, like all men, are created equal. All tastes are equally sophisticated. So fine dining is no different than McDonalds. In fact, what is the difference, isn't McDonalds the standard of gourmet cuisine? Take your date out to McDonalds, you will surely impress her.
Britney Spears, Justin Bieber, Miley Circus, just a few names which lead the po(o)p culture. You take a few sound bites, a common melody that always works, and a verse. Then you repeat it, and repeat, and repeat. You drill this verse into the heads of the (m)asses. You push po(o)p culture deep into the rear end of the (m)asses.
And you don't let up. Not only will you find this common melody and verse in every, single, po(o)p song, but you will also hear it jingling in the jangles of every television commercial. Take a break from your music television, with a few of these fine commercials from our sponsors, who use the same po(o)p rhythms on repeat. That's enough for tonight. You switch off the television. No more po(o)p culture? Except you'll hear that common melody being whistled by the children. It's that catchy beat, that song stuck in your head. Even you can't help but hum along while all the media outlets are off.
Sleep on it, sing it aloud from inside your dreams.
Most people aren't versed in musical theory and history, but a little bit of research goes a long, long way. Did you know that these po(o)p melodies don't come out of nowhere? And they aren't mass reproduced, and manufactured, unknowingly? Did you know psychologists use them for advertising? Did you know they have a purpose, and their repetition is no coincidence?
Many melodies were discovered by ancient musicians. Some rhythms and beats are more universal, more "common". These are found in the po(o)p songs. A most predictable melody: 1 2 3 4, 1 2 3 4, 1 2 4 2, 1 2 4 2, 2 1 3 4, 2 1 3 4. They are not coincidental nor ironic. They are a well known fact of bards for ages. Predictable, common, repetitive melodies for predictable, common, repetitive minds.
And it's not just song, of course, but also paintings, television shows, movies, "philosophical" conversations by nobodies in a lounge or bar. Ancient arguments echo throughout time, repeated how many times by how many minds who have no idea nor clue where they originally arose? Thoughts are common, beliefs too. A religion is formed. A po(o)p culture revolves around poopy people, genetic feces, the outcrop and waste byproduct of something else.
What is this something else? Who produces these songs, paintings, theater plays, originally? Where does F-art come from?
Who cares? This is po(o)p culture, forget about it. Just enjoy the rhythm, lose yourself to it, as if you planned to resist it anyway? Dance, sing, loud. Audition to american idol. You could be, or already are, the next superstar. Yell it out. It sounds even better to everybody else than it does inside your own head.
