They are seduced by power in the same way females are seduced by masculinity - they feel powerless. Their only conception of power is through others - proxies - and their philosophies remain political, that is psychologically manipulative. They want words to be 'liberated' from the restrictions of experienced natural order, because they want to use words to affect the minds of those who cannot endure experienced nature. This is the source of their magical powers.
Impotence outside human minds that are primed - speak the language and are burdened by anxiety and a need for relief. Beyond this their words are impotent....referring to nothing - useless.
Their philosophies remain political because that's the only place they can have an effect.
Words referring to wors...words placed in a particular sequence to trigger emotions in the listener; words so detached from reality they, by themselves, are a source of hope for those desperately looking for a way out of natural order - the indifferent, injustices of natural selection.

Denial of objectivity. Promotion of inter-subjectivity, where all subjective perspectives are, theoretically, equally valid, or invalid. Promotion of the pleasure principle to replace reason.
Promoting the ideal that vices are virtues. Those who control pleasure control minds - subjective minds that want to "express" their repressed emotions, desires etc. Liberalism, via Americanism, places the individual above all else. Liberating individuals to fully explore their desires.
He who controls access to expunging libidinal desires controls those who have surrendered to them. This is basic animal training - Pavlovian. Use treats and punishments to nurture automatic reactions to specific stimuli associated with pain/pleasure.
