The 'death of god' exposed nihilism to the world. God was no longer an ideal to mitigate between man and reality. Man was left with himself, and his growing awareness of himself - self-consciousness.
One-God, was the ultimate representation of nihilism.
Man could turn to its absolutism to eradicate the fluctuating reality of world.
But the idea did not 'die' it was simply released from its dogmatic institutionalization to become whatever man imagined.  
Absolute god stood in the way of absolutist ideologies, that could shape the absolute to meet subjective defensive needs.
His theoretical demise released the absolute from religious constraints, to be secularized.

Metaphysical totalitarianism was replaced by physical and ideological totalitarianism.
Even the concept of 'nature' was integrated into absolute order.
Absolute one was replaced by absolute nil as the way of defending against the world's uncertainty, and against man's exposure to himself, compared to other.

A historical change in awareness was taken to be the end of it; especially when it was combined with liberal ideas of finality from war (post-war landscape). Thus began the disintegration of it through all forms; culture, art, academia, knowledge, spirituality, soley because there was nothing left, based on the nothingness the new ideas of freedom were about. The individual was all that mattered, he was all that was left after the cultural skin molted. And in a world made up of people needing an authority, they became thier own authorities of reality.

The SJW is a good candidate for the last man. Solipsistic, bred and reared on academia and artificial knowledge, institutionalized, deeply inferior and power hungry; and most of all, guided by a sense of emptiness towards all goals and desires.

Do they desire to preserve this identity, above all others? Are they willing to die rather than change this identity? Will they pass-on the values, principles and the language of this identity?

The same triad also corresponds to the temporal categories of past/present/future – a common past, manifesting as presence, interpreted as appearance/behaviour/activity, loyal to the past and its preservation and dedicated to its propagation and to its improvement – purification & growth – in a projected shared future. Dreams is another way the body expresses its honesty to a sleeping incapacitated mind, in the form of confused narratives with an underlying symbolic theme.
Sexual fantasies is another way this mind/body dissonance expresses itself in a schizoid psychology.
The body dominates, or as McGilchrists puts it, the 'right-hemisphere- is master, and though the left-hemisphere, reasoning linguistically, may overwhelm it, during wakeful hours, it cannot eradicate it.
Sexual fantasies reveal an underlying repressed physical need/desire.
If we accurately define 'soul/spirit' as the synthesis of mind/body - via the nervous system - then a repressed body, by a domineering mind, leads to a division - not only between- right/left hemispheres, I defined as mind/body dissonance, but also in interactivity creating the public/private personae, or the exoteric and esoteric.
Physical interactions, reactions, choices are always more honest - visceral and direct. The mind may try to repress and control them but in the end it can only explain them away or integrate them into its lucid conceptualizations - integrating the primal and often irrational genetic into its lucid memetic rational ideologies.
