Meritocracy of Liars
He, or she, who lies most effectively – convinces more gullible minds – is promoted. Hollywood is the art of lying, by gifted liars. So are Capitalist politics. So is marketing.
What does lying entail? Natural gift, talent, with manipulating minds using semiotics: astrology, for example – salesmanship, religion, manipulating human vanity, fear, existential anxiety, need… Using words – representations of intent and abstractions – to manipulate and exploit.
What does Capitalism use to exploit work? Money.
Money is a form of human exchange, human intercourse, like language.
Marxism exploited words to manipulate workers, with the promise of ‘salvation’ from exploitation. Exploitation is also a fundamental rule of natural selection and predation – plant work is exploited by herbivores who are in turn exploited by carnivores. Marxism promises liberation from this natural exploitation.
Capitalism promises salvation via money – a Holy Ghost, or messiah, mediating between individuals and existence; usually via the mediation of another, i.e., capitalist, boss, priest, state, etc. With money a feeble inheritance gains strength, value.
Past (inheritance) made presence (existent), interpreted as appearance; money “corrects appearances” by adding to it false value – he who is unattractive becomes attractive with money; he who is weak becomes strong, with money; he who inherits a low IQ is suddenly genius, with money – at least for the sake of appearances, i.e., pretences. Here ‘appearance’ is concealed and enhanced, arbitrarily adjusted, using human semiotics, i.e., money, words/symbols of human exchange. Money purchases alternate appearances, ergo “appearances are superficial” in human environments, especially Americanism where pretence becomes an art-form, the only art-form that is valued and richly rewarded.
Marketing yourself becomes a priority – prostitution. An individual must become a narcissist to efficiently market himself/herself to the members of the system he/she participates and belongs. Marketing yourself requires funding to create a marketable image – attractive product.
Lying is a talent that can be enhanced by belief – embodying the role, image, one is pretending to be, in order to convince as many as possible – popularity, the market base for evaluating an actor’s performance. Popularity translates to monetary approval. The image/role – caricature – ‘correcting an impoverished inheritance’ must be approved by the masses, i.e., audience, potential market. Through the masses an individual performer/actor experiences divine approval, when natural approval – via sexual selection – is difficult to attain. An individual's adopted image/role – his/her performance – created monetarily – gained by exhibiting the right level of respect and deference towards the institutional principles and rules – replaces his/her inherited presence, interpreted as appearance. Now he/she can fabricate an alternate appearance using money, and this alternate identity must be approved by the masses because only there does it attain reality.
One gains money by exploiting and manipulating the masses, within the range of deference and rules set by them via their established institutions – they want you to convince them of your lies truthfulness because they also seek relief from mundane, indifferent, existence. This approval can then be redirected toward fabricating an individual’s alternate identity – his/her caricature – pending their continuing approval.
A self-perpetuating process of exploiting and manipulating those one also gains the ability to continue exploiting and manipulating them. Reciprocal solipsism.
