The best attainment of self-knowledge is going to the dark side of yourself while understanding why you are there; so when you return back to your sanctuary you will know how to look out the window without longing for that which you never needed. You will then realize how much life takes from you, that denying much of the pleasure that it gives you, is an affirmation of yourself.

Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote:
All good is eternally reproductive. The beauty of nature re-forms itself in the mind and not for barren contemplation, but for new creation

The wise man shows his wisdom in separation, in gradation, and his scale of creatures and of merits is as wide as nature itself. The foolish have no range in their scale, but suppose every man is as every other man. What is not good, they call it the worst, and what is not hateful, they call the best.

The path of no return..? arduous to take, but stunning views.. once One is underway.

..a journey awaits, but only for the most adventurous of souls to take, mind.

It's about motive.
Not to seek adventure but honesty...to want to traverse a path that no human has soiled with his choice, so as to see the original choice and to embody the one who first took it.
The need to see the world outside subjective bullshit, in the raw - come what may.
To dare to explore the unprecedented, not for its own sake, but to clarify the precedent.

Motive, is momentum guided by need/desire - it exposes the traveler's intent - his/her will, and its freedom; its power to dare to peer into the abyss, even if it peers back - the strength, or integrity of motive, to endure this exposure to an otherness.

Adventure usually means experiencing things anew/the novel.. does honesty embody that too? or are they very separate things, to you?

Honesty, might equate to bravery, depending upon what the unprecedented/precedent is.

Exposure to an otherness sounds equally requiring of bravery, depending upon what the intent/motive is.

One is thrust into adventures, as life is an adventure and we are thrown into it.
Deception is often necessary.
So it is self-deception which I consider cowardice.
To conceal oneself from oneself - to lie to oneself.

That's just a waste of a lifetime.

Things are abstractions in the mind, of dynamic pheneomna....so they are representations.
Words are representations of representations.

I think that to lie to One’s self equates to stupidity, and I do agree that it’s a waste of time, in that.. by the time One has gotten around to being their true authentic self, most of that life has been wasted, in not being so.

I don't think these degenerates ever "come around". They die living in their heads the lie they fabricated.
Modernity shelters them, allowing them to sleep away their lives in techno-cubicles, oblivious and comfortably numb - Matrix analogy.

Words - numbers - represent abstractions in the mind which are, in turn, interpretations, representations, abstractions of sensual data - representations of representations.
All art is so.

This is where nihilists become trapped - either intentionally or unintentionally; either because of a genetic or a mental deficiency, seeking refuge in their own representations - seeing concealment.

What kind of sensual data you talking about? Laughing j/k

Which is why most Art is questionable, lol.

..also, there’s those that are akin to a Hall of Mirrors, that reflect the projections that they throw around, to others.

And why Plato considered art dangerous.

But as well as noting that art was an obstacle to the contemplation of truth, Plato also saw it as a way to better know ourselves.. which I would say is true.

An Artist is constantly consumed in thought and judgement when creating a piece, or when thinking of what their next piece of work will be.. and so the artist becomes immersed in self-reflection and contemplation, in relation to, and apart from, all else.

I ain’t even gonna judge.. the world is so f’d up, as well as those people, but is it their fault or of their own making? I don’t think so..

I divide art into two distinct types:
Art that engages reality and represents it as accurately as possible, leading to what you say in the arts dealing with human behaviours such as theater, and the arts that deal with human - the artist's own - reactions to reality producing narcissist, subjective, displays of private dispositions concealed in surrealism and obscurantism.

Language is what is corrupted, as it is the most common art-form.
Words no longer refer to anything experienced - objective - but express subjective preferences, tastes, reactions to what is experienced.

No communication is possible when language is applied differently.
One may be talking about the world as it is, and another about the world as it might be or ought to be, or secretly is, because what it appears to be is not how it is; one wants to engage the world by accepting responsibility for his own fate, and the majority want to find absolution, and unburden themselves of all culpability; one wants to adapt self to world, the majority - infected by a particular world-view - wants to change the world to accommodate their private insecurities and secret desires.
They desire finality, certainty, safety...order, but not an earthly order that would insult their ego, a supernatural order, an abstract order...

Concepts, and the words that represent them, are defined out of existence: god, no longer refers to anything perceptible, but to the imperceptible, the anti-perceptible as the concept of a singularity - one-god - negates multiplicity.
Concepts like free-will are psychologically defined out of existence: what appears to be choosing - acting, having some agency - is not real, because there's a secret agency working through them; the apparent is illusory and there's something imperceptible at work, which contradicts the apparent.
Nihilism.

When empires crumble insanity increases because man needs order to feel safe and happy. So, when order begins to deteriorate and all is becoming chaotic, they accept any absurdity promising them order.

Poe.. a favourite poet of mine.. I think it’s the poignancy in the words that he chooses to use.

Day-dreams are the best, day-mares.. not so much.

Poe is right, on this one.. when the dream state, merges and meets, with reality.. sublime..
