My own metaphysical positions concerning order/chaos do not describe a complex existence which is comprehensible, but an existence that can never be comprehended, and as time moves on is becomes increasingly incomprehensible - counter-intuitive. No technology can be invented to ever solve it because of chaos. Chaos defined as an energy state that lacks all order - non-patterned, not as complexity. I believe this can explain how life can emerge, as if from nowhere, and can also explain the necessity of free-will.
Complexity is another way of describing a god - absolute, perfect, determining in accordance with predictable laws. Concealed fatalism. Life is reduced to being no different than non-life, and choices become illusory, since they are also in accordance with laws. There is no 'natural selection' since nothing is being selected, all is determined. Why would nature evolve something that is unnecessary?
Life, being order - organism - must constantly adjust to chaotic effects. This adaptation can be guided by precedent, stored as memory, but must also be able to go outside precedent, reacting to novel circumstances.
