Examples of cyclical history Empty
PostSubject: Examples of cyclical history Examples of cyclical history EmptyThu Aug 19, 2021 6:44 am

It is something of a truism to say that history repeats itself, but here's one concrete example, and I'm sure there must be others. Are these cycles real, or just coincidental and illusory?

1. Greek civilisation emerges from its dark ages and is brilliant, innovative and dynamic, at least in part because it is divided into a multitude of ever-changing competing states, each with its own values and interests.
2. Greek civilisation spreads west, to Rome, which grows in size and power and eventually comes to dominate Greece itself, at least in part because the latter is divided into a multitude of ever-changing competing states.
3. Rome becomes the world superpower, an economic, cultural and military giant, but never forgets its Greek roots and under its dominion, Greek civilisation continues to flourish.
4. Rome falls to invaders and enters a dark age, but the Greek half of its empire in the east survives for another millennium, though its culture is no longer dynamic or innovative, until it, too, falls to invaders.

1. European civilisation emerges from its dark ages and is brilliant, innovative and dynamic, at least in part because it is divided into a multitude of ever-changing competing states, each with its own values and interests.
2. European civilisation spreads west, to America, which grows in size and power and eventually comes to dominate Europe itself, at least in part because the latter is divided into a multitude of ever-changing competing states.
3. America becomes the world superpower, an economic, cultural and military giant, but never forgets its European roots and under its dominion, European civilisation continues to flourish.
4. (?)

Repeating cycles...
History repeats but never in exactly the same way.
I think of this process as a emerging SuperOrganism, similar to an organism.
See Spengler.

Memes are to the SuperOrganism what genes are to an organism - words/symbols - language - are like DNA codes for cultures.

Civilization is the end stage of a culture.
Culture = genetic family - species
Civilization = individual organism belonging to a cultural species.

This is the foundation of what we are exploring here.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
In this context there are parasitical memes, and memetic viruses...
Nihilism is such a virus that corrupts an organism's DNA, a culture's language.
Parasitical memes establish s symbiosis - covenant - with nihilism for mutually beneficial reasons - the virus is helped to spread and the carrier host is helped to infiltrate and parasitically exploit the host.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

The current coming collapse is about a disease finally bringing down its host - a disease carried by a carrier who is also a host.
Do you follow?
This mental disease corrupts language and through this corruption it renders language useless, meaningless.
Detaches noumenon form phenomenon, from reality, via the nervous system, using language.
Zombification.

Civilizations are founded on a cultural foundation.
For Rome it was Hellenism.
For the U.S. it was Abrahamism - though it wore the garments of Rome. America's Messianism is distinctly Abrahamic, as is its need to impose a global ideological paradigm.
Money was its memetic version of salvation = freedom from past, i.e., nature.
We are experiencing this "logic" as this crisis of identity. The belief that the body is illusory or, superficial, and that a male can be born as a biological female.
This is founded on the belief in souls.

A civilization goes through cycles akin to those a organism experiences: birth, growth, apex of virility, and then decline and death.
It is then eaten by vermin and returned to the flux from where other cultures, civilization will emerge. It is appropriated in pieces - selectively.

Yes, very much so. The feeling that our culture is heading for some sort of collapse is almost palpable, both from outside aggressors and, perhaps more importantly, the wilful overthrow of all the values that held it together by its own ruling elite. The question is, is it too late to do anything about it? Or are we doomed to repeat the cycle?

This is part of a natural cycle....it is inevitable.
Another civilization with its own foundational culture will replace the dying one.

It's actually quite Orwellian, with its Ministry of Truth, in which ridiculous lies are mandated as the truth, on pain of prosecution and loss of liberty.

With the exhaustion of the two World Wars America took over the British Empire, which had to sell itself to survive.
America because a Protestant Empire, gradually infested by Judaism to become a Modern Jerusalem, pretending to be a Rome.
Protestantism is the closest Christian variant to Judaism.
Americanism was the result.
This Empire is now in decline, and like all declining organisms it begins to detach from reality. This detachment is exacerbated by its underlying nihilistic ideology which is now being pushed to tis logical ends of absurdity.

Nihilism can only survive reality if ti contradicts its own state values and principles, and the US did this for decades. So, while it had a pro-freedom ideology it established a form of insidious slavery - wage slavery, the American dream. Its individualism was collectivized into a uniformity - Americans gave up their past, e.g., racial identity, ethnicity, culture, heritage, and now their biology, so as to purchase a new one on the markets.
This duplicitous model was sold as a model of world emancipation - salvation - all other nations should emulate.
See Afghanistan.
See Europe, where it has been successfully adopted.
See the Anglo-Sphere, the ex-British Empire where it is producing suicidal rules and regulations, adopting laws that destroy its very foundations, such as mass immigrations from races and ethnicities that overturn demographics.

It's as if our civilisation has suddenly gone mad and decided to commit suicide in the most destructive way possible, bringing down everything else with it. It's enemies must be completely astonished at their good fortune.

Some patterns are temporally short and some are longer.
Memory is necessary to perceive them.
Human lifespans are insignificant when compared with civilizational life spans, yet both share some characteristics having to do with the biological cycles of synthesis birth ascent apex decline and dissolution.
Civilizations are, after all, manmade, representing a people's historical relationship with environments.

The same is true on smaller scales too, with other manmade constructs, such as groups and organisations.

Yes, or smaller still...imperceptible organic patterns that appear as quirks or mood modifiers etc.
Just as we can only speculate about chaotic energies by how they affect order we can only speculate about cosmic energies, for example, affecting the body, through the effect, and on a cellular level there is a world we cannot perceive directly but only through tis effect on the entire organism.

Perceiving subtle details and keeping it in memory to combine it, later, with another subtle detail may paint a general picture most are unable to perceive.
Contradictions, paradoxes, all hint at a rule, a pattern, being compromised.

Cosmic cycles are very important, ranging from the day, lunar month and year, to the various longer planetary cycles, stellar cycles, to even longer ones such as the great year defined by the precession of the equnoxes. And longer ones still, I'm sure.
