I can't decide which environment is more deleterious, the migrant situation in Europe or modern university campuses.

The Addiction Myth video makes some good points about the physical withdrawal symptoms not being the core component of the addiction but then it gets into fuzzy all you need is love waters.
Offer them a different drug, like lots of attention to get them off the other stuff.
I think the environment is an essential component in the formation and sustenance of addiction but it's also depending on the organism in question (what is bearable, even comfortable as an environment may be unbearable for another, in particular social connection/attention) and more distinctly, it's not about replacing one hedonism or escapism with another hedonism or distraction.
It's not all about fuzzy feels, definitely not in all cases, what will also exasperate the situation is having no meaningful social roles in the crowded rat cage (see Calhoun's rat utopia).

There is this trend in explaining social isolation, although we are so much connected today, with a lack of physical presence. And while I think physical presence is important for effective communication, in particular beyond an intellectual plain, I think it's more the crowding, the too much fuzzy luving from strangers which is detrimental to the formation of more meaningful social bonds.

I was watching parts of this while dozing off a bit.
I was waiting for him to say that this dark matter physics is looking increasingly like the desperate attempt to patch a bloating theory which might just be wrong in its core premises.

When it comes to Big Bang theory I'm quite skeptical, simply because the time frame we have observed and data on is very very small. And in that case, making projection far, far into the future of past become increasingly inaccurate.
I imagine it to be like somebody measuring the temperatures rising from 8 o'clock in the morning to 11:30 and then proclaiming that by 9 o'clock in the evening all life will be cooked on the planet, having never experienced a full day cycle.

He also talks as if resources are limitless (which includes the time of taking care of your addicted relatives and friends).
And longterm wise, the question is also if society should provide everybody who needs it all those resources to make up for their addiction problem so that they can have better lives, have maybe more children and pass those genes and combinations on.

I thought the addiction lecture was good. Although he failed to touch upon the epigenetic ramifications. I.e. the genetic personality tendencies and deficiencies that determine how powerful chemical inebriation will be over the particular individual. One person may snort a line of cocaine and never do it again, as opposed to another who will do the same line and become addicted instantly and intensely.

The popular claim that addiction is a "disease" is the modern Blank Slatism talk for the denial of accountability or genetic factors.

Either way, drug use in excess is the mind ridding itself of feelings of inferiority, exacerbated by reality, and which are in excess themselves, so the more inebriation, the better.

She told that David Duke re-tweeted her videos, so I don't see how can she be "trolling", if she tells the right information. But maybe it's just nobody would react to it if she was too serious, I have no idea.
