I never associated myself with the Jedi....I am stoic.
I seek peace because conflict is unavoidable - conflict, war, is existence as life experiences it.
I value peace because it is so rare when it is experienced as a small degree of conflict.

I know conflict is existence...god is the father of all, i.e. interactivity, flux.
Peace, in large doses, leads to atrophy...weakness, which makes existence even more uncomfortable.
Prolonged comfort multiplies suffering...prolonged peace makes war more insufferable, more destructive.

Peace is death...but this is misleading.
Death makes life unconscious of existence, it does not escape the interactivity - the war - which is existence.
Existence, experienced as need/suffering, finds relief in whatever numbs and distracts it from its existence.
Denying self and free-will is another way of coping with out participation in existence.
Those who use determinism to imply that they are not part of the determining process, want to at least not suffer the pain of being responsible for another's need/suffering.
This is a ancient guilt our heathen ancestors also felt...and so they gave thanks to the prey they had to kill so that they could survive.

This empathy is a consequence of self-cosnciuosness - leading through subjective sympathy/antipathy toward objectivities stoic indifference.
Objectivity can never be complete....just as omnipotence and omniscience can never be complete.
No life can completely become indifferent to pain and suffering.

Modern artistic mediocrity, has to do with a lack of imagination, and why Hollywood is a recycling shit factory of empty remakes. Everything has its time. Typically, moments of genius, or brilliance tend to happen only once to some who can pull it off, only once, before they quickly descend into mundane dullness. Then there are those who can pull it off many times, the very rare geniuses. Creativity requires risk-taking, vision, passion, and charm, which is what makes art memorable, and captivating. Good storytelling and good art, has relatable and identifiable elements which anyone can partake in, or value, based on how it mirrors the nature of the human condition. The mind seeks things out which to identify itself with, an emotion, an idea, a situation, a plight, etc. Art is an idealistic representation of reality, not reality itself, which is what gives it its intriguing, and explorative enchanting essence. To only duplicate the real, speaks to the lack of any intelligent creative drive, any real genius.

It wasn’t that Hollywood wasn’t interested in making “Pan’s Labyrinth,” director Guillermo del Toro’s fantasy about a little girl’s adventures in an alternate universe during war time.

It was del Toro who wasn’t interested in making the movie in Hollywood.

Watched this film for the first time. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

The take away for me is the undercurrent of mindless Abrahamic zealotry which underlies the modern spirit and human pretension in every way, shape and form, and infects all sociopolitical, individual and communal affairs. The bane, the chronic symptomatic spiritual affliction that manifests through every hardship and circumstance. It makes you think about your personal life and the experiences you may have had encountering a seemingly rational or sane person, only for them to suddenly bring up god, or the bible, or the importance of 'saving' oneself, sin, guilt, etc. The undignified concessions and compromises one has to make in the face of such intractable, ubiquitous hysterical human need to quell fears, shame and the awareness of their own carnal impulses and weaknesses. No stone left unturned for the superstitious disease. It lurks everywhere. Wanting to account for the unknown, the uncertain, because the cowardice to face it cannot be overcome.
