It's decried as an interchangeable threat depending on the culturo-regional or life histories and the influences of a group perspective: in America, any organizational externality which is agon to the democrato-ideal of "Freedoms" is inexplicably "communist"; in Europe, where it follows from both ways, since the diffusion of communism was actuated there, proponents of it denounce any opposition as fascist while opponents of both primary and secondary effects, call it communist. In surety, it's all universally and totalitarianly democratized which gives the affectation of vox populi.

Difference between Europe and the U.S. is that in Europe mixing, the meting pot, has only recently, after WW2 had a discernible effect. Even in this new discovery exploiting the survival , genetic, foundations of Liberalism/Conservatism, r/K Selective Theory, the race, blood, factor is left conspicuously absent. The author conveniently explains the "holocaust" as being part of this r/K competition, never once integrating race, common ancestry, common heritage, as being part of the in-group's K-Selected identity. A very American perspective. All becomes a competition in the market. He then speaks of how the r-selection strategy avoids fair competition, not realizing that fairness is a human construct, not even the K-Strategy can abide by.
Anyway...in Europe we are seeing the slow Americanization of the continent. Soon, the culture of no culture will have leveled it all down to a paste.
Resource abundance produced decadence, just as it did in Rome, promoting hedonism, childish naivete, playing games, ignorance or indifference to consequences, since the consequences are mitigated by the institutions. Natural selection replaced with experimentation - quantities over selected qualities. Fuck, eat, drink, have fun....go to bed satisfied and "happy". A child's dream world.
Ha. The piece was satirical, but from whence its perspective derives as you described is always considerable.
*** The fate of Europeans is betwixt the confluence of a multiplicity of currents, both internal and external, harbored if it doesn't start to pick up defensive and offensive stream contra a Western and Eastern front. The complacency as you denoted of liberal and neoliberal progressivism and of the America inclusive multicultural EU along with the subservience and platitudes to the Euroasianist Russia inclusive East by apathetic and placated Westerners is an undecided choice as there is no viable one from that standstill point.
A counter initiative has little space to transpire anywhere across Europe given the malleablity of modern governance and populace. Therefore, an approach could be something like a mereological commonality, something with which I dealt before on the field of the cyclical interplay of inclusivity or empires and exclusivity or isolations, and which came to the forefront upon a recent introduction to the concept of intermarium. Baltic countries and the rest of the eastern bloc as it were, exempting Poland, haven't demonstrated the requisite and acquired properties to function to the de minimus success of a nation-state beyond the parameters of its atrophic rate, in a likewise modality as can be deterministic of the life expectancy of a Communist oriented system before it implodes in and upon itself. Lithuania, for instance, held independence for nearly two decades of the interwar period, not without outside pressure, then again for approx. that time after dissociation from Soviet Russia in '91, only to subordinate it to the EU in '04. Similarly, when Estonia followed suit and re-claimed its independence from Soviet Russia also in '91 only to relinquish it to the EU in '04. A reinstatement of a [Type] Keivan Rus' is appropriate within the organizational stratagem of an intermarium, exclusive to the leadership or directionality of Russia proper, as, if it is recalled, the latter would become the initiator of its ultimate separation. Rather, Russia has in its scope a Euroasian future, albeit and immutably agon to some and acceptable to others, but even within multiethnic Russia there is a stitch ripped at an orthodoxic regime of containment and a secularist regime of globalism.
The orchestration of the US proxy war and Russia pretext war in Ukraine was paramount to the ascertainment of wherein lies loyalities.
So, as alluded, from the Central and East before and ending at Russia could issue a unification; from the North it could be Nordic State as it's heard; and so on.

The last scene is from Katyn I think, a movie about the Katyn massacre committed by the Bolsheviks, the international elements now destroying our souls and hence those ugly fucks calling upon ''science'' to prove their third, 4th, 5th, 6th etc., gender as existing, talk about how they cry and cry and cry for a few words such as ''you are victims, we get it already'' - I am a little more direct and harsh with such ''people'' face to face (if no consequences related to work), but to these ugly monstrosities, by being so weak to believe in a ''third gender'' and be hurt by normal words, they should not even live. How will they survive any real crisis and conflict.
